Today the millions of people around the globe start their working day not in their office, but right at their home, or on the road, or in specially equipped conveniently situated place, or somewhere else. This became possible because of developments in information technologies, and this is called "telework". Sometimes the wider name "flexible work" is used.

These training materials are compiled by project TELESOL and it consists of two pages, each of which can be studied independently.

Part one is developed in the framework of the project TELESOL by company JC Consultants, France. This is a system of telework aptitude tests. Tests depend of professional status of the person; four groups of tests were developed:

It is wise to mention that this part of the training course is in English. Although we place the links also separate groups of tests, still we recommend to begin from a start page; besides the tests itself, this part of the course contains interactive text (also in English), explaining the main telework issues.

Another part of the course is the adaptation of telework texts, compiled by the project FLEXWORK, to Russian-speaking situation. This adaptation was made by project TELESOL with active participation of one of TELESOL partners - company Arminco (Yerevan).

Telework is a completely new way of human activity; terminology and vocabulary, concerning telework, are far from stable. Laws, conditions of business, business ethics, life conditions of teleworkers are very different in the countries of West Europe and CIS countries. So in our case we have not just the translation, but rather customization of the texts for their use by Russian-speaking CIS audience.

Educational materials, prepared for Russian-speaking audience, consist of the following:

  • Telework handbook
  • Blueprints
  • Checklists

Contents of these chapters:

Handbook describes in details the terminology of the telework and practically all situations which can take place during telework. A special place is devoted to the issues of implementation of the telework. More details about handbook can be learned from its "Contents".

Telework blueprints (totally 10) are the description of the situations, when the use of the telework brings the advantages in one or the other way. The particular situations were generalized; these situations do not pretend to be absolutely general and they can not cover all possible situations of the use of telework. We recommend to start this chaptrer simply from the list of described situations.

Checklists are most of all used in self-control. One of them is a checklist for the teleworker. The rest are the checklists for phased implementation of the telework. It can be mentioned, that educational course underlines the importance of the issues of introducing and implementation of the telework, because the implementation of the telework without its proper organization as a rule lead to poor results and discredit the telework as a whole.

Besides, FLEXWORK texts include chapters, which are better studied in English:

Manager Briefings - explanations of different management situations arising in the telework;

Technology Briefings - explanations of technology dictionary of the telework;

Technology Cases - examples of the use of different technologies in the telework;

SME Cases - examples of the telework in the small and medium enterprises;

Regional Cases - examples of successful telework in different geographical regions;

IST success stories - examples of successful telework in IST projects;

IST projects - links to IST projects, concerning tewlework.
