Conferences and Workshops

WISTCIS project will organize in 2001-2003 a series of consistent gathering events. Among them are: kick-off conference in Kiev, Ukraine, demonstration workshops in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus-Moldova, Georgia and outlook conference in Moscow, Russia. In total about 1000 telematics users, developers, vendors and service providers in the European CIS countries will participate in these events. Participation of potential EU team work partners will be encouraged by WISTCIS as much as possible. WISTCIS conferences and workshops will provide most updated information to the CIS research, environmental, educational, telemedicine and business communities on new opportunities opened by IST Programme and will provide in-depth demonstrations of collaborative browsing techniques and other new methods of teleworking and e-commerce. The goal is to increase drastically the CIS participation in IST Programme.

Kick-off conference "Teleworking in Research, Medicine and Business" in Kiev, Ukraine, and the following local demonstration workshops in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus-Moldova, Georgia, under the common title "EC IST: New Opportunities for EU-CIS Team Working" will be organised and feedback on their usefulness and market potential will be obtained. The workshops will be organized by EDNES in collaboration with focal organizations and WISTCIS Information Dissemination Centres (IDCs) of the CIS countries. The outlook conference in Moscow, Russia, will demonstrate and disseminate IST and WISTCIS results and will provide a bridge to the new tendencies of the European telematics activities.

The conferences in Kiev and Moscow and the workshop in Kishinev will be attended by the delegates from all the seven participating CIS countries. Baltic and Central Asian countries of the former USSR expressed their active interest to the kick-off conference. The other workshops will focus at the audience of the country where the workshop will be held. Up to 100-150 participants from the CIS and EU countries are expected at each of WISTCIS conferences. EU experts in telematics tools for new methods of work will deliver key-lectures at the conferences. WISTCIS workshops will be attended by 20-30 local participants from the CIS countries and 3-5 participants from EU countries and EDNES.
